Talking about the attention that comes with fame, Bhatt recently spoke about her children, especially Alia Bhattwhich often faces public scrutiny, including online trolling. He said he doesn’t try to guide how they respond to it, but lets them handle it on their own.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Mahesh shared that he avoids giving advice to his children and also spoke about his approach to raising his adult children amid the pressures of fame. He said: “I never give advice to my children. They are brighter than me. Today they belong to the ground. They will learn on their own. The ground will teach them. And that is the only teacher. Life is the only teacher, period.” The filmmaker went on to say that he doesn’t overprotect his children, even when they face public criticism, adding, “I think the protection will make them paralysed. No, let him taste the light, burn like we all do.”
Mahesh Bhatt calls fame an ‘occupational hazard’
He referred to online criticism and hatred as an “occupational hazard” that comes with fame, noting that public recognition inevitably comes with its own set of challenges. He said, “Fame comes at a price. If you get in the sun, you’ll get burned.” Bhatt also talked about why she avoids projecting her own experiences onto her children, believing that life itself is the best teacher. She added: “I don’t tell my children about my life experiences and expect them to draw them on their life maps. Woh sahi bhi nahi hai (This is not right). Their lives are different, these times are different and their journeys are different.”Bhatt also spoke about parenting, saying it’s unfair for parents to expect their children to face life using the exact same lessons they learned themselves. He pointed out that each generation grows up in a world of its own.
