Director Chettan has opened up about the message behind his upcoming film The India Story, saying the project aims to encourage audiences to think more carefully about the food they consume every day. According to the filmmaker, the story addresses an issue that directly affects families across the country and hopes to spark meaningful conversations. Chettan shared his thoughts while promoting the film in Mumbai along with the actress Kajal Aggarwal. He explained that the film aims to create awareness while presenting an engaging narrative rooted in a socially relevant issue.

Speaking to IANS about the inspiration behind the project, Chettan stressed that food security is an issue that concerns every household. He said the film explores why people need to be more aware of what ends up on their dinner tables. He said: “We work hard to put food on our plates. If there’s poison on your plate, then your hard work is for naught, and it puts your children and everyone around them at serious risk. So, in this film, it’s all explained, what’s important, what’s there and what needs to be done.” This movie is for all families. It is for all Indians.” The director suggested that the film goes beyond entertainment, encouraging viewers to reflect on a subject that has widespread implications.
The director says that the film will leave the audience thinking
Chettan also shared what he hopes the audience will take away after watching the film. According to him, the story presents the seriousness of food-related problems while also offering possible solutions. And he added: “So, after watching this film, you have to pay attention to everything, you won’t be able to sleep thinking about the seriousness of the situation in society regarding our food. You will be surprised. But, the film also tells you how you can ensure safety.” The filmmaker believes that the narrative will inspire viewers to be more aware of the quality of food and the choices they make in their daily lives.

The India Story stars Shreyas Talpade opposite Kajal Aggarwal, who plays lawyer Archana. His character joins forces with an ordinary citizen in a legal battle against influential corporate entities accused of endangering public health. Combining courtroom drama with an investigative story, the film examines issues such as pesticide misuse, food adulteration and its wider impact on society.‘The India Story’ is gearing up for a theatrical release on July 24, 2026.
