The makers of ‘Ramayana: Part 1’ launched an aggressive drive against piracy after an 11-second video featuring Ranbir Kapoor it went viral across social media platforms. The clip, which appeared on July 2, was widely shared on X (formerly Twitter), Reddit and other platforms, with several users claiming it was leaked footage from the exclusive preview shown at CinemaCon 2026.Soon after the video started gaining traction online, the film’s team initiated takedown measures through their anti-piracy partners to prevent the clip from spreading further.
Viral ‘Ramayana’ video is not entirely authentic
According to Mid-Day, reports suggest that the images doing the rounds are not entirely genuine. While certain images are believed to be from the film, other parts have reportedly been manipulated using artificial intelligence and digital editing techniques.The report also said: “Our team is actively monitoring the internet and removing the material. Some elements of the 11-second video are generated with artificial intelligence, while some footage from the film has been transformed and used. In any case, the team does not want any aspects to get out yet. The looks, even those generated by artificial intelligence, take away from the vision of the film.”
The makers stand firm in protecting the film
Director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra are treating both hacking and AI-generated disinformation with equal importance as they gear up for the film’s promotional campaign.Sharing the team’s stance, the report said, “The trailer will be released later this month on an international platform. It is up to us to ensure that nothing gets leaked before the launch.”The makers are determined to ensure that audiences experience the world of ‘Ramayana: Part 1’ as originally envisioned, with no unauthorized leaks or visual alterations influencing first impressions.
