Chidambaram’s ‘Balan: The Boy’ entered its first working day at the box office after posting good numbers in its first weekend. However, like many recent releases, the film witnessed a huge drop in collections on Monday as the mid-week trends began to take effect.

Day 4 collections fall by 60.3%.

According to Sacnilk, “Balan: The Boy” collected Rs 1.15 crore nett in India on Day 4. The latest figure represents a 60.3 percent drop from Sunday’s nett collection of Rs 2.90 crore. The film was shown in 1,143 shows on Monday.The Malayalam version collected Rs 1.12 crore and recorded 27 percent occupancy. The Tamil version brought in Rs 1 lakh with 10 percent occupancy, while the Telugu version added Rs 2 lakh with 17 percent occupancy.

Occupancy continues to be strongest during evening shows

The film recorded a total Malayalam occupancy of 24.17 percent on Monday. Morning shows recorded 9.67 percent occupancy. Evening shows improved to 20.58 percent. Night shows further increased to 25.17 percent, while night shows recorded the highest attendance of the day at 32.58 percent.With four days completed, “Balan: The Boy” has collected Rs 8.22 crore in the net collections of India. The film’s Indian gross now stands at Rs 9.53 crore.International markets have played a major role in the overall performance of the film. On day 4, the film grossed 70 lakhs overseas.This takes its total overseas gross to Rs 8.00 crore. The worldwide gross has now reached Rs 17.53 crore.Kerala continued to be the film’s biggest market on Day 4, bringing in Rs 1.10 crore gross. Karnataka added Rs 12 lakhs while Tamil Nadu contributed Rs 5 lakhs. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana generated Rs 3 lakhs and Rest of India added Rs 2 lakhs.ETimes awarded the film three stars and noted, “Although the film has its share of tense moments, the emotions are surprisingly muted. Particularly in the climax, while the resolution is interesting, the lack of a stronger emotional build-up prevents it from reaching its full potential.
