Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association suspends president after Apex Council vote 8-0 | Cricket News
NEW DELHI: Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) president Javid Ahmed Kitab has been suspended with immediate effect after the association’s Apex Council passed a unanimous resolution in favor of the move.The decision was finalized on June 25 and approved by an 8-0 majority vote. According to the notification, the resolution was circulated among the eligible members of the Apex Council under Rule 23 (i) of the JKCA Constitution. As the matter concerned the conduct and suspension of the President, the resolution was not sent to Kitab. Instead, it was circulated among the remaining nine members of the Apex Council. Eight members voted in favor of the resolution, while one member did not communicate a decision.The notification said, “Accordingly, the Resolution was duly passed by a majority of 8:0 in terms of Rule 23(i) read with Rule 48(6) of the JKCA Constitution.”It also said, “As per the resolution, Javid Ahmed Kitab, President, Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association, has been suspended with immediate effect.”The notification also said that the resolution shall have the same force and validity as that passed during a duly convened meeting of the Apex Council. It will be put before the council at its next meeting for ratification, as required in the constitution.The JKCA also ordered all officials, employees, affiliated units and other officials of the association to “take all consequential steps for the implementation of the resolution immediately in accordance with the Constitution” of the association.
