Accomplice in Taylor Swift Vienna concert terror plot faces possible death penalty in Saudi Arabia |
An Austrian man accused of links to the foiled terror plot against Taylor Swift’s concert in Vienna is facing a possible death sentence in Saudi Arabia. According to the latest reports, the man, a 21-year-old man, is currently on trial for a separate suspected terrorist attack and reportedly faces a death sentence. The 21-year-old suspect, identified only as Hasan E under Austria’s strict privacy laws, is accused of carrying out a stabbing attack in the Saudi city of Mecca in March 2024, the Daily Mail reports. Prosecutors allege the attack, which left five people injured, was carried out by Hasan on behalf of ISIS.According to the report, Hasan E was arrested on March 11, 2024, the day of the alleged stabbing. He was later linked to a wider extremist network that authorities believe included people connected to the planned attack on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert in Vienna. During the trial, Saudi Arabian courts are said to have heard evidence about Hasan E’s alleged connections to the terrorist cell behind the foiled August 2024 concert attack in Austria.According to the report, investigators allege that Hasan E conspired with Beran A, who was later convicted for his role in the Vienna concert plot, and Arda K, another alleged member of the extremist network. Beran A was subsequently sentenced to 15 years in prison for his involvement in the planned concert attack, which could have resulted in mass casualties.Authorities further allege that Hasan E had a close relationship with Beran A, and they were allegedly “former schoolmates” and a “jihadi mentor.”Arda K was not accused of participating in the Vienna concert plot but was sentenced to 12 years in prison for his role in the alleged jihadist cell.According to prosecutors, the group had allegedly discussed carrying out coordinated attacks in various locations, including Istanbul and Dubai. However, it is said that these plans were abandoned before they could be executed.Reports indicate that Hasan E has repeatedly requested extradition to Austria while awaiting trial in Saudi Arabia. However, these efforts are said to have been unsuccessful. The verdict against Hasan E is expected tomorrow. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.
