PUNE: Emphasizing the importance of yoga for mental and physical health, Dr. Rahul Vishwanath Karad, CEO of MIT World Peace University, said that yoga is India’s greatest gift to the world and should be a part of everyone’s daily life.He was speaking at the 12th anniversary of the university International Yoga Daywas held on campus on Sunday. The theme of this year’s event was “Yoga for Healthy Aging.”Speaking to students, teachers and staff, Dr. Karad said that yoga helps people live a healthy and stress-free life. “Yoga is the most precious gift that India has given to the world for good physical and mental health. Every person should have yoga in their daily life,” he said.The program included yoga lessons and a demonstration session by yoga expert Anup Murali, who led the participants in various exercises and explained their health benefits. The event was organized under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D Karad, Founding President of MIT-WPU.Dr. Karad said the university has included yoga in student development activities. “Students at this university are being taught yoga. As a result, they are growing physically and mentally. MIT-WPU is a unique university that offers yoga training to its students,” he said.Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor Dr. RM Chitnis also highlighted the importance of yoga beyond physical fitness. “Yoga is important to people because it promotes harmony and shows the true meaning of human values. It is one of the greatest gifts that nature has given to people,” he said.Some of the people who were there were Dr. Prasad Khandekar and Dr. Pallavi Kavhane. Students, teaching and non-teaching staff actively participated in the yoga session and pledged to incorporate yoga in their daily life for better health and wellness.
