The Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) organized a conference for Teachers, Physical Education Teachers and Sports Coordinators in Lucknow, where Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak launched the program. Held at La Martiniere College, the one-day event brought together around 320 people representing all regions of the state to discuss school health, fitness and sports.The conference included an Active CISCE training program for Physical Education Teachers and Trainers and a conference for CISCE Sports and Sports Coordinators of the Uttar Pradesh region. It focused on preparing schools for the 2026-27 academic session through training on physical assessment techniques, operational strategies and program changes.The workshop focused on physical fitness assessmentIn the inaugural session, Brajesh Pathak said that education should go beyond the standard and include fitness, sports and overall development. He said physical health helps discipline, character development and the overall development of students.Students received information on the Active CISCE framework, assessment procedures, newly introduced measures and ways to incorporate physical activity into everyday school activities. The program also provided an opportunity for the Teachers and Coordinators of Physical Education Games to share the experiences of the first year of the project.Uttar Pradesh records the number of participantsAccording to CISCE, 498 schools out of 523 public schools have registered for Active CISCE during the 2025-26 academic year, representing 95.20 percent participation. About 5.96 lakh students registered for the hard examination, of which about 5.06 lakh passed, resulting in a completion rate of 84.97%.The national program reaches more than 31 lakh studentsChief Executive and Secretary of CISCE, Dr. Joseph Emmanuel, said that the program seeks to include good health in higher education and is in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020.CISCE said that more than 31.24 lakh students from more than 3,300 schools in India and abroad participated in Active CISCE. Of these, around 29.15 lakh completed their assessment, recording a final pass rate of around 93.54 per cent.The program focuses on age-appropriate fitness indicators, including walking skills for young children and speed, flexibility, muscular endurance, cardiovascular endurance, core strength and body composition for older students. Each student receives a Fitness Report Card. The event was also attended by Stephen D’Costa, Sudhir Joshi, Arijith Basu and Garry Everett.
