After a blockbuster opening weekend and an expected drop on Monday, The Odyssey bounced back with a modest increase in earnings on Tuesday, signaling healthy midweek momentum.According to early box office estimates, ‘The Odyssey’ collected around Rs 8.35 crore nett on day 5 from 8,520 shows. According to the report, the film saw a growth of 4.4 percent over its estimated Monday collection of Rs 8 crore nett. With this, the film’s total India net collection has risen to Rs 77.65 crore, while its total India gross collections stand at around Rs 92.63 crore.
‘The Odyssey’ first weekend collections
The film opened to Rs 17.40 crore nett on Friday before rising to Rs 22 crore nett on Saturday and seeing a minor dip on Sunday with a collection of Rs 21.90 crore nett. With a total of Rs 61.3 crore, the film delivered one of the strongest opening weekends for a Christopher Nolan film in India.
The English version of ‘The Odyssey’ continues to dominate
Since its release on Friday, the original English version remained the top contributor to the film’s collections. On Tuesday alone, the English version earned around Rs 6.50 crore, while registering the highest occupancy of 63 percent among all language versions. The flm’s English format has so far collected around Rs 72.68 crore, while the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu dubbed editions continued to contribute steadily to the box office total.
‘The Odyssey’ becomes India’s highest-grossing IMAX film
‘The Odyssey’ has also rewritten the record books for IMAX screenings in India. The film collected around Rs 15.33 crore from just 34 IMAX screens in its first three days in theatres. According to sacnilk, nearly 25 percent of the film’s Rs 61.40 crore opening weekend collections came from these 34 premium format screens, while the remaining 75 percent was generated from approximately 2,700 standard screens across the country.With this, the film has broken the long-standing record of Tom Cruise’s ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’, making ‘The Odyssey’ the highest-grossing IMAX opening in the history of the Indian box office.
‘The Odyssey’ is worth Rs 150 crore
Early trade reports suggest that the film is headed for another strong weekend. Advance bookings for the upcoming Saturdays and Sundays are filling up fast in several cities, with premium format screenings.
