Re-NEET UG results by July 20; the training session should start on time: NTA staff

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has confirmed that the results of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination will be announced by July 20. Although the agency has not announced the exact date, the NTA official said that the process is underway to release the results early, ANI reported. The official also assured the students that the delay caused by the examination will not affect the commencement of the MBBS course. The NEET UG exam was conducted on June 21 after the May 3 exam, which was attended by over 20 lakh candidates, was canceled due to alleged paper leakage.“We don’t want to announce any day from now, but the results will be out by July 20. Usually, the results are announced within 45 days of the exam, but this time, since we just conducted the exam in 37 days, we will announce the results much earlier,” said the official. The temporary answer key was released on June 25, and candidates were allowed to challenge until June 28. According to the official, 10,000 challenges were submitted by candidates. The board is now evaluating any objections before preparing the final keys to the solution and its results.“We have to look at all the problems one by one, evaluate the supporting evidence, and answer each one,” the official added. The NTA also said that despite the re-examination, the MBBS course will start on time. However, the counseling process has not been announced yet. After the NEET UG results are announced, the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) will release the counseling schedule for 15 percent of All India Quota (AIQ), AIIMS, JIPMER, central universities and the so-called universities. The government officials have separately announced the counseling process for the remaining 85 percent of the local government seats. For counseling, candidates must apply online, pay the counseling fee, and enroll in the colleges and courses of their choice. Seats are allotted based on NEET rank, category, reservation rules, preference and availability of seats. Candidates who get the seat have to visit the allotted college for confirmation and admission.Counseling is usually done in several rounds, including Round 1, Round 2, Mop-up Round and Stray Vacancy Round, before a new academic session begins.Meanwhile, some states, including Tamil Nadu, have already started the admission process pending the NEET UG results.
