the ‘RamayanaThe trailer may not have made its debut on Friday, but the cast and creators of the film still gave San Diego Comic Con audiences a first look at what to expect. The biggest moment of the panel came when leading Yash i Ranbir Kapoor they sang each other’s praises for their portrayals of Ravana and Lord Rama. Ranbir pointed out that Yash’s Ravana, as imagined in Nitesh Tiwari’s film, moves away from the “stereotypical portrayals” that have been given to the character in recent times.
Ranbir Kapoor on sharing the screen with Yash
Taking the stage at the ‘Ramayana’ panel, Ranbir spoke about the experience of sharing the film with Yash. He said, “Lord Rama and Ravana will appear together at the end of the film, maybe with a meeting in the middle. But we haven’t shot that. So we haven’t had a chance to work together. But, I have known Yash for a long time and have been a huge fan of his work. I really think we need someone with his aura, his stardom, his perspective to play that role.“Talking about how this Ravana differs from Nitesh Tiwari’s previous portrayals in the film, Ranbir added, “He has played him with such grace, aura and honesty that he has really brought Ravana to life. Over the years, we have a very stereotypical portrayal of Ravana, but not this one.”
Yash on the importance of intention
Meanwhile, Yash said his belief in the film came down to the team getting their intent right. “Intention is the most important thing. If you have the right intention and the right equipment, everything will fall into place. This story itself has many aspects where we started to figure out so many aspects of life while making this film. Technically, yes, it was demanding with the makeup and the look. There were so many challenges, but ultimately, when you try to tell a story, we are here. We love stories and we give everything to bring them in the most authentic way. And I think we’ve been able to do that in a pretty good way, that’s what I think,” said the Kannada star.
Trailer release postponed, says Namit Malhotra
The team’s Comic Con outing was originally scheduled to wrap up with the global unveiling of the trailer on Friday morning, but producer Namit Malhotra shared that the launch has been pushed back to a later date. In a post on social media, he wrote, “Today is a very special moment for our ‘Ramayana’, my dream of bringing Ramayana to the world is now a reality with our association with Sony Pictures Entertainment. In light of the above, we will release our trailer now globally at a later date. “In over 100 years of Indian cinema, this will become a moment of great pride where Ramayana will be shown around the world like any major global Hindi film. This is special because it opens the door for the people of the world to discover the richness of our culture and our stories with renewed pride and enthusiasm.”

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, “Ramayana” is being made as an epic in two parts, with the first installment slated to hit theaters this November. The film reunites Ranbir Kapoor and Yash opposite Sai Pallavi as Sita, with Ravie Dubey, Sunny Deol, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor and a large ensemble cast that completes the lineup.
