NCERT points out the circulation of fake books, fake book of Class IX Social Science on social media.
New Delhi: The National Council of Educational Research and Training NCERT has reported the circulation of unauthorized and fraudulent copies of its textbooks in print and digital form on several platforms in India.It said that fake Class IX Social Science book Part 1 Understanding Society India & Beyond is being circulated through social media sites and message boards without the permission of the Council.Warning against fake NCERT textsNCERT also clarified that books are printed, printed and released through approved channels only and no book is allowed to be distributed before its release.It added that such unauthorized material may be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading or fictitious and should not be relied upon by students, teachers, parents or the public at large.Official sources of NCERT booksStakeholders are advised to access NCERT texts through authorized sources including NCERT website, ePathshala, NCERT portal notes, vendor list, soft copies. Legal actions and reportsNCERT said it is taking action against individuals and organizations involved in fraud and misrepresentation under the Copyright Act 1957 and other applicable laws and urged the public to report illegal content via secy.ncert@nic.inThe Council reiterated that no book is allowed to be distributed before its release and that all stakeholders should avoid links to unverified programs and messaging groups that claim to provide NCERT materials or previously released material.Digital copies are available for free on NCERT’s official platforms and official systems which ensure that students and teachers have access to authentic learning without relying on other sources.Unauthorized distribution and digital transmission of material protected by NCERT is prohibited and punishable under the Copyright Act 1957.Parents of students and teachers are advised to verify all information taught from authentic NCERT sources and ignore any claims published on social media sites or messaging platforms.NCERT is cooperating with the relevant authorities to identify the source of fake products and prevent illegal distribution channels.All stakeholders are encouraged to rely on the NCERT ePathshala website and authorized vendors to document authentic content and to report suspicious links promptly to prevent fake news and to protect the integrity of education in schools and digital learning platforms in the country to ensure that students and teachers get access to verified content through reliable government tools at all times without relying on unreliable online channels in India.
