The Department of Health Research (DHR), under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has opened applications for its Fellowship Abroad program for the academic year 2026-27.This fellowship, awarded under the Human Resource Development (HRD) programme, aims to help Indian researchers to better study and to keep abreast of the latest developments in the field of health, medicine and medicine through collaboration with leading international organizations and scientists.According to DHR, the program is designed for Indian researchers, faculty members, scientists and medical professionals seeking specialized training and research skills in emerging areas of health and natural sciences.The fellowship program has two categories. Under the Short-Term Fellowship Abroad, selected candidates can be trained for a period ranging from 15 days to three months. Applicants must be below 57 years of age as on the last date of submission of applications.The Long-Term Fellowship Abroad offers study opportunities between six and 12 months. Candidates applying under this category must be under 45 years of age on the last date of application.

DHR Overseas Fellowship: How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online through ICMR portal association.Interested candidates can check the details about eligibility, application format, terms and conditions, etc. instructions on the DHR website.The last date for submission of applications is June 30, 2026, at 5 pm IST. Applicants are advised to verify the details on the official website before applying.DHR has also explained that the selection process is competitive. Applying to a particular international institution does not guarantee the selection of a fellowship. The department also said that the funds disbursed under the HRD scheme are subject to regular monitoring and availability of funds.
