Hailing the great contribution of K Bhagyaraj to Tamil films, Chief Minister Vijay announced that the last journey of the legendary filmmaker would be done with full state honours. In his statement, he described Bhagyaraj’s death as an irreparable loss to the Tamil film industry and extended his condolences to the filmmaker’s family, friends, colleagues and countless admirers. Vijay also prayed for Bhagyaraj’s soul to rest in peace, adding that the state honor was a mark of respect for the cinematic legacy that the “script king” had created over several decades.
The last rites will take place at Besant Nagar on Sunday afternoon
Bhagyaraj’s mortal remains have been kept at his Nungambakkam residence to allow members of the public, industry colleagues and admirers to pay their last respects throughout the night. The family confirmed that the veteran filmmaker’s last rites will be held at the Besant Nagar Electric Crematorium in Chennai on Sunday at 1:30 PM. His death has been followed by a continuous flow of people who have come to pay their last respects to this highly acclaimed filmmaker, whose contribution to Tamil cinema has been greatly appreciated and respected.
Film fraternity unites to bid farewell to ‘Script King’
Even before Bhagyaraj’s mortal remains reached his residence, several members of the Tamil film fraternity came together to help the bereaved family. His former assistants and protégés, including actor-director Parthiban and director Pandiraj, soon arrived along with Radhika Sarathkumar, Sarathkumar and actress Suhasini. They personally supervised the arrangements for the public tribute, coordinated the movement of visitors and ensured that everything was organized for the final farewell.The emotional act showed how deeply respected and loved Bhagyaraj was in the film industry.
