Bihar school timings changed due to heat wave: Check updated schedule here

The Bihar Education Department has revised the timings of middle and high schools across the state due to the ongoing heat wave. The new policy came into effect on June 22 and will remain in effect until June 30, 2026.According to the Directorate of Secondary Education, schools will now operate from 6.30 am to 12.30 pm. The decision was taken to protect students from the extreme summer heat and ensure that studies continue without interruption.Under the revised schedule, schools will open at 6.30 am, followed by morning prayer and assembly until 7 am. Then lessons will be held for 40 minutes each. Break and mid-day meal in primary schools will be held from 9 am to 9.40 am. The last teaching period will end at 12.20 pm, after which the school officials will spend 10 minutes reviewing the lessons taught, preparing for the next day and checking students’ homework.The department has also empowered the government officials to take action according to the weather conditions. If necessary, DMs can change school policies or take action to ensure the safety of students in their districts.
