Arshad Warsi and his wife Maria Goretti have restored a 150-year-old Portuguese-style bungalow in North Goa’s Saligao into Casa Zen, a five-bedroom heritage property with vibrant interiors, a swimming pool, solar panels and lush gardens. The actor, along with his wife Maria Goretti, spent some time restoring the heritage property, and the end result is a striking combination of old-world charm and bold, modern design.Arshad recently took to Instagram to walk followers through the transformation, sharing photos of everyone who helped bring Casa Zen to life, the carpenter, the potter and the team behind the cleaning and polishing work. Among the images was one of a potter who made 40 pots of different sizes and colors for the home, and a video of Maria Goretti herself painting a heart-shaped design carved into wood. The biography on the property’s official page describes Casa Zen simply: a 150-year-old Portuguese house that has been lovingly restored, where entering feels like a warm embrace.

Inside Zen House

Located in Saligao, North Goa, Casa Zen has five rooms and combines its original Portuguese-era architecture with lively, contemporary interiors. The entryway is built with textured indigo walls, while one of the bedrooms takes a softer approach with a white and cream palette, offset by warm lighting and wooden accents.Outside, the bungalow keeps things largely white, with pops of indigo and yellow breaking up the facade. In a nod to sustainability, Arshad has also fitted the roof with solar panels, a practical addition to the heritage structure. The property also boasts a large swimming pool, a landscaped garden and a mango orchard, which complete its appeal as a peaceful and green retreat away from the city.Although Casa Zen is a personal vacation home for the Warsi family, it doubles as a vacation rental property. According to Wildflower Villas, which handles the bookings, the entire five-bedroom bungalow can be rented for Rs 75,000 per night, excluding applicable taxes. Guests have access to the pool, garden and heritage interiors of the house, making it one of the most distinctive stay options in the quieter pockets of North Goa.
