Rising petrol and diesel prices, lower running costs and growing charging networks are prompting more buyers to consider electric vehicles for everyday use. Unlike a few years ago, EV ownership is no longer limited to the higher budget segment. Customers now have a wide range of options in the Rs 15 lakh price range, offering practical range, basic features and suitability for daily commuting.From compact models for the city to larger vehicles for families, the market offers a range of options to suit different needs. Here are some of the most affordable electric cars currently available in India priced from Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom, ex-BaaS). 1. Tata Thiago The first electric car on the list is the Tata Tiago EV priced at Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes in four models and two battery pack options – 19.2kWh and 24kWh. The 24kWh battery version puts out 75hp and 114Nm, while the 19.2kWh version puts out 61hp and 110Nm. The MIDC range of the larger battery is said to have been increased from 293 km to 285 km, while the range of the smaller battery version has now been increased from 223 km to 226 km. According to Tata Motors, the actual driving range of the C75 is expected to be 205-215 kilometers for the 24kWh version and 160-170 kilometers for the 19.2kWh model.2. MG Comet The second electric car on the list is the MG Comet EV priced at Rs 7.60 lakh (ex-showroom). The MG Comet EV is available in five variants: Excite, Excite, Excite Fast Charge, Exclusive and Exclusive Fast Charge. Talking about the battery and electric motor, it comes with a 17.3kWh battery pack paired with a single electric motor that can output 42 hp and 110 Nm of torque to power the rear wheels. The battery is rated IP67 for water and dust resistance and has an ARAI-certified range of 230 kilometers.3. Tata Charge electric car Another Tata Motors car on the list is the Tata Punch EV priced at Rs 9.70 lakh (ex-showroom). Punch EV is available with two battery pack options: 30 kWh and 40 kWh, and is available in five models: Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered and Empowered+ S. Prices for the non-BaaS variants range from Rs 9.69 lakh to Rs 12.59 lakh (ex-showroom). The larger battery pack has an ARAI-certified range of 468 kilometers on a single charge, while the C75 has an actual range of 355 kilometers.4. Citroën eC3This is followed by Citroen eC3 priced at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Citroën eC3 is equipped with a 29.2 kWh battery pack that powers a front-mounted electric motor that delivers 56 hp and 143 Nm of torque. The eC3 is ARAI certified and can travel up to 320 kilometers on a single charge. 5. Tata Tiger electric car Next up is the Tata Tigor EV priced at Rs 12.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tata Tigor EV is powered by a 75 HP electric motor that produces 170 Nm of torque and is paired with a 26 kWh battery pack. The sedan is ARAI certified and can travel 315 kilometers on a single charge. Using a DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 59 minutes.
