Reacting to the honour, Rajkumar Periyasamy said that receiving a National Award had always been one of his greatest ambitions. “I have always dreamed of receiving the National Award since I dreamed of being a film director. And now it has come true! God has been really kind,” he wrote. The director added that awards were never his aim while making ‘Amaran’. “While writing and making ‘Amaran’, all I had in mind was to make the audience empathize with the lives of Indian Army soldiers and their families. The film has given back to our team and me many times over,” he shared.
