PUNE: The government should establish a new model of education to integrate the Warkari tradition into higher education, said Dr. Rahul Vishwanath Karad, President of MIT World Peace University (MIT WPU). He said academics should come together to explore how the values of the Warkari community can be integrated into higher education by combining science, spirituality and Wari traditions.Dr. Karad said this while receiving the palkhis of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj when they arrived in Pune during the annual Ashadhi Wari pilgrimage. The formal reception was organized by MAEER’s MIT World Peace University amidst the devotional music of “Dnyanoba Tukaram” and the playing of cymbals and mridang.Palkhis was received by Dr. Rahul Vishwanath Karad and Dr. Aditi Rahul Karad, Director of Vishwaraj Hospital.

Speaking to the media, Dr Karad said, “Dnyaneshwari and Tukaram Gatha should be translated in all languages so that the younger generation can relate to them. In this age of science, we should follow the vision of Prof Dr Vishwanath D Karad that world peace can be achieved through the union of science and spirituality. Academicians and thinkers should come together to look at how higher education can be combined with the higher education of Warkari.”“He said that the MIT World Peace University had already organized a “Warkari Sammelan” to encourage discussion on the issue and said the government could consider introducing new educational policies based on the discussions.Among those present were Usha Vishwanath Karad, Dr Mangesh T Karad, Executive President of ADT University, former Vice Chancellor of Nagpur University Dr SN Pathan, author and speaker Dr Sanjay Upadhye, along with university officials, faculty members and students.
