Actor and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay turned 52 on June 22, marking his first birthday since assuming office. Wishes came from actors, political leaders and fans on social media, with actors Keerthy Suresh sharing a heartfelt message that reflected Vijay’s transition from film icon to political leader.Taking to X, Keerthy shared a photo with Vijay and wrote a special note to celebrate the new chapter in her life.“For years, your birthday meant waiting for a first look, teaser, trailer, or announcement of a new movie. It became a ritual we all looked forward to. This year feels different,” he wrote.
“You’re reintroducing yourself as a leader”
Keerthy acknowledged Vijay’s shift from the big screen to public service, saying that his latest role was perhaps his most meaningful yet.“For the first time in over a decade, there is no new character being introduced to the world. Instead, we are witnessing something much more important. You are being reintroduced, not as a hero on the screen, but as a leader entering a new chapter of service and responsibility.”He further added, “This year, we’re celebrating a new look for a new journey, and we’re all here to help.”Ending his message in Tamil, he wrote, “அநுக்க்க்க்கு நாம் நெந்சில் குட்டியுகையுக்கு தைல்திக்குக்குக்குக்குக்குக்குக்கு,” extending warm birthday wishes to the leader popularly known as Thalapathy.
Vijay’s political journey
Vijay is celebrating his first birthday as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu after making a successful transition from film to politics. He has joined the league of influential actors-turned-politicians such as NT Rama Rao, MG Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa.In February 2024, Vijay announced his political ambitions and confirmed that he would contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. He subsequently launched his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), and held his first major public rally in October 2024. Since then, Vijay has traveled extensively across Tamil Nadu, addressing public meetings, interacting with citizens and presenting his vision for the state directly to the people.
