State Bank of India (SBI) offers internship opportunities to students through the SBI Summer Internship Program 2026. Internships provide students with an opportunity to experience banking and financial services and help them gain industry experience.Unlike other internship programs, SBI does not conduct a single nationwide recruitment process based on the number of applicants each year. Instead, internship opportunities are offered through designated SBI offices, learning centers, sustainable businesses and academic partnerships. Selection may vary by region and study area.
Who can apply?
Students pursuing full-time studies at an institution approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) are eligible to apply, provided their course requires them to complete their studies at a foreign institution.Students can be selected through recruitment agencies or they can directly approach SBI for scholarship opportunities. The Bank reserves the right to accept or reject any request without assigning any reason.

The way to choose
Selection involves a personal interview. If necessary, candidates may also be required to appear at panel discussions.At SBI campuses, the Learning and Development (L&D) department conducts the selection process. For Corporate Center and Corporate Center organizations, the services are managed by the Human Resources (HR) or Administration department.
How to use it
Students interested in applying should contact the Learning and Development (L&D) department at the Local Head Office (LHO) of the SBI circle where they wish to apply.If the application is sent to another SBI office or branch within the circle, it will be forwarded to the L&D department for consideration.For internships in the Corporate Center or Corporate Center establishment, applications can be sent directly to the relevant HR or Administration department.
Scholarship
SBI provides financial assistance only to those selected under the stipend category. The fee is paid upon successful completion of the internship and the submission of a project report.The bank has also explained that the students will pay all other expenses, including accommodation, travel and any other expenses incurred during the course of study.
Will students get jobs?
No. SBI does not offer placement after completion of the course.
