Within 24 hours of its publication, a statement shared by actor Sudipa Chatterjee on Wednesday about Rajesh SharmaThe hospitalization, following an alleged bug bite on the sets of Prabhas’ upcoming film, was taken down on social media. The move comes after the Association of Indian Cine Workers (AICWA) pushed for a high-level inquiry into the matter. The actor remains hospitalized and is not yet out of danger.
What did the statement say about the incident
According to the now retracted statement, the incident happened at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad after the day’s shooting concluded. He claimed that Sharma was conversing with local technicians in a densely vegetated location when he was reportedly bitten by an insect, possibly a poisonous insect or spider.
Sharma initially did not seek medical help
According to the statement, Sharma initially did not think the bite was serious enough to warrant immediate medical attention. It was only after that that his condition worsened, eventually leading to his hospitalization.

AICWA requires a high-level investigation
In a post on X, AICWA asked Chief Minister of Telangana Revanth Reddy to order a high-level inquiry into the incident. The labor body also insisted that the film’s producer cover the actor’s medical expenses and pushed for strict legal action if the probe uncovers any negligence. President of the AICWA Suresh Shyamal Gupta, in the statement, raised questions about whether proper emergency protocols were in place on the set and asked why Sharma was not rushed to a leading hospital in Hyderabad if his condition had become critical during the shoot.
AICWA seeks liability and safety answers
AICWA also sought clarity on several fronts: whether adequate emergency medical facilities were available on site, whether mandatory occupational health and safety rules were followed, and what exactly happened on set that caused the actor’s condition to deteriorate so rapidly. The association added that if the investigation uncovers any negligence or security violation, strict legal action should be taken against those responsible, stressing that no individual or production house, regardless of the scale or budget of the film, is above responsibility. He further urged the makers to take full responsibility for Sharma’s medical expenses and ensure that he gets the best possible care till he fully recovers.
Rajesh Sharma’s condition is still under surveillance
Reports suggest that the actor remains under close medical observation. Although there has been some improvement in his condition, doctors have not yet declared him out of danger.

According to NDTV, Sharma’s breathing has since been under control, along with the stabilization of his blood sugar levels.
