Artificial Intelligence will be part of the classroom curriculum in all Punjab government schools from next month, with Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Thursday announcing the launch of the AI curriculum that has been planned for the past year as reported by PTI.The announcement was made at the ‘Bright Minds Punjab 2026’ program held at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan, where Class 12 students who secured more than 95% marks in the Punjab Board examinations were felicitated. The event was attended by former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Education Secretary Sonali Giri, teachers and students.
AI courses ready after year round preparation
Speaking, Mr. Bains said that the government has spent the last year creating courses on Artificial Intelligence and is now ready to start all courses in public schools from next month.He said the plan is to ensure that public school students are taught modern skills and skills that will be important for higher education and future jobs.
The government wants students’ opinions on changes in education
Bains said that the program is the first time that the Minister of Education and the Secretary of Education interacted directly with students to understand their views on tests, school curriculum, and teaching methods in the classroom.According to the minister, the responses received from the students will be taken into consideration while preparing the future education policy, which will give the students a greater say in the changes affecting public education.
The students who did the best were honored
The event recognized the academic achievements of Class 12 students who scored more than 95 percent in the board exams.Congratulating the students, Bains described them as the future of Punjab and the country. He also said that he is confident that many of them will go to serve the country as civil servants, doctors, lawyers, and various professionals.
Punjab ranks high in the Education Index
Highlighting the progress in education in the state, Mr. Bains said that Punjab has achieved the highest status in the education system of the country. He appreciated what has been done due to the efforts of teachers, students, and the government, saying that continuous improvement has strengthened the education of public schools.
Manish Sisodia emphasizes the importance of AI education
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Mr. Manish Sisodia, said that the progress of any country depends on the quality of its education and emphasized that ensuring that every child gets a good education should remain the primary responsibility of the government.He said Artificial Intelligence is expected to create new job opportunities while changing the way many jobs are available. In such circumstances, he said, students must have the latest technology to be ready for the changing job.Sisodia also called for reforming the examination system, encouraging officials to eradicate cheating and promoting scientific methods of teaching in schools.
Sonali Giri encourages students to contribute to society
Education Secretary Sonali Giri urged teachers and students to work together to tackle the problems they are facing such as drug abuse, unemployment, and poor education.He also made a promise asking students to follow the principles of the law, protect the environment and preserve the culture of the country.
