Prabhas has opened up about the emotional toll that followed the phenomenal success of ‘Baahubali.’ Although ‘Baahubali’ made him a star of pan-India fame, the actor admitted that the post-release period was not easy for him. While speaking at the documentary ‘Baahubali – The Torchbearer’, Prabhas said that the film totally transformed the magnitude of his work, making every future project very important to him. He described the period as one of the hardest phases of his career.

Recalling the pressure of choosing his next film, Prabhas said, “I couldn’t sleep well for two to three years after ‘Baahubali’. The level of responsibility in every department suddenly multiplied a thousandfold. It was the most stressful years of my life after ‘Baahubali’.” He explained that the team explored several ideas before finalizing their next projects. “We wondered what should come next. Should it be another big visual film like ‘Baahubali’ or something completely different? We talked about script-driven stories, a love story and even had talks with Prashanth Neel i Nag Ashwin”, he revealed.

‘Baahubali’ opened the doors to bigger films and bigger budgets

Prabhas also credited ‘Baahubali’ for changing the financial landscape of his career. He noted that Saaho collected around Rs 26 crore in North India on its opening day, which he believes happened only because of the goodwill created by ‘Baahubali’. The actor said the blockbuster made it possible to mount big budget films like ‘Saaho’, ‘Radhe Shyam’, ‘Salaar’ and ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. Before ‘Baahubali’, he explained, most of his films were made on budgets ranging from Rs 20 crore to Rs 40 crore.

Looking back, Prabhas said that stress eventually led to bigger opportunities that defined the next phase of his career. He described Baahubali as the foundation that made ambitious films like ‘Salaar’ and ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ possible. Both ventures were commercial successes, further cementing his reputation as one of India’s biggest stars. The pressure post ‘Baahubali’ took a toll on Prabhas mentally, but he feels the film opened doors for all his future successes.
