The happy couple took to their Instagram account to share with the world that they have welcomed their first child, a baby girl, into the family. With the caption, “SHE’S HERE! WE’RE DADDY! 🥹 Our baby’s name is…”, the family announced the arrival of their first baby, Birdie James.In the video, the couple go about their day while singing their own version of Kelly Clarkson’s “My Favorite Things,” listing things about their baby and wondering what his name should be. In the video, they named many celebrities, which also included Zendaya, Ariana Grande, Queen Latifah, as well as all members of BLACKPINK. At the end, they announce that they are now parents and that their daughter is named Birdie James.

While chatting with PEOPLE, the couple opened up about how it felt to welcome their baby girl into the world. The duo revealed that it was all thanks to Scott’s sister, Lauren, who volunteered to be the egg donor.Scott later added, “It was really beautiful. It was this overwhelming flashback of all these memories of growing up and being like, ‘Will I find love? Will gay marriage be legal? Will I be able to have a child?'” He also shared that the couple had been trying for the past 4 or 5 years, and that “it’s been a long time coming.”When he first laid eyes on it, the 34-year-old singer admitted that “I started to cry because it was such a beautiful thing that I feel very, very lucky.”

The two explained in the interview that there was a special reason behind the meaning of their daughter’s name, Birdie James. Scott shared, “The first song I learned to sing as a little kid was ‘Put On a Happy Face’ by Bye Bye Birdie. We wanted something that was musical, but not too on the nose. And we also loved how it felt… It feels like it could work at any age.” His name, James, comes from Mark’s middle name.To conclude his talk, Scott also talked about how he has been showing that his daughter is becoming a singer like him when she grows up, although he adds that she will have the freedom to do and be whatever she wants to be when she grows up.
