In a conversation with ETimes, film trade analyst Komal Nahta shared his reaction to the film’s box office prospects. He said that Jana Nayagan will “do business in Tamil” but added that the Hindi dubbed version is unlikely to do well. Nahta also agreed that the film serves as a fitting send-off to Vijay’s acting career as it marks his last outing on the big screen.As things stand, the film is trailing behind Vijay’s last film ‘The Greatest Of All Time’ or simply ‘GOAT’ which minted over Rs 44 crores on its opening day.Etimes also spoke to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who shared that he believes ‘Jana Nayagan’ is expected to set a new ‘benchmark’ in terms of the film’s opening. When asked about the reception of the film in the North Indian market, he shared that it is too early to comment as the film is still in its first day in theatres. He added that a mid-week release is not the right parameter to judge the success of a film and a clearer picture will emerge from Friday.
