New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has established the Mattu Center for Research in Security Pricing and Corporate Finance to advance research on security pricing, corporate finance, corporate governance and finance. Announced on July 13, 2026, the Center of Excellence was created to promote economic research in India through an Indian repository, academic collaboration and evidence-based research.The Center was established with generous support from IIMA alumnus Ravi Mattu, a member of the Post Graduate Program (PGP) 1979 batch and former Managing Director and Global Head of Analytics at Pacific Investment Management Co. LLC. (PIMCO). It aims to bring together researchers, industry leaders, regulators and policy makers to address issues related to India’s capital markets.Center to build an economic research baseThe main goal of the Mattu Center is to develop a comprehensive financial database and analytical tools to support financial research. The agency said the project will strengthen access to reliable information while promoting cross-sector cooperation in areas such as asset prices, currencies, market microstructure, corporate finance and financial management.The Center will also encourage financial professionals working in India’s capital markets and organize seminars, conferences, meetings and workshops to promote interaction between researchers, practitioners and policy makers.The Governing Body includes academics and industry leadersThe Center will be led by a Governing Body led by the Director of IIMA Prof. Bharat Bhasker. Professors Joshy Jacob and Ellapulli Vasudevan will serve as Co-Chairpersons.The board also includes Ravi Mattu, former member of IIM Bangalore Prof. R. Narayanaswamy, Prof. Vaidyanathan Venkateswaran of New York University’s Stern School of Business, and Rajan Raju, Director of Invespar Pte. Ltd.Showing the importance of this work, Prof. Bharat Bhasker said, “As India continues to grow as a prominent global financial market, the need to address the system’s challenges and develop India’s energy reserves is imperative.”Ravi Mattu said the Center will support joint research between Indian and US members, facilitate dialogue with Indian officials and help create a database of defense prices. He said that the project will also help budding economists in India.Supported by the IIMA Endowment FundThe Center was established through the IIMA Endowment Fund, the institution’s philanthropic platform that leverages contributions from alumni, corporate, individuals and CSR partners. According to IIMA, the project aims to strengthen long-term research capacity, promote innovation and support education in management and public policy through economic research.
