The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM Kozhikode) has launched its new academic cohort for 2026-2028, where women account for 66% of students admitted to the Post Graduate Program (PGP). The organization said this is the highest number of women enrolled in PGP among Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). 599 students enrolled in three full-time MBA programs, while 99 professionals enrolled in its doctoral programs.PGP admitted 499 students, including 329 women. Along with the gender gap, the organization also reported that 57% of students in the program come from non-professional backgrounds. Across all three MBA programs, women make up about 63% of intake, with 59% of students coming from non-engineering schools.Major admission figures for 2026-28
Various benchmarks continue to riseThe organization has increased the participation of women in the PGP over the past decade. It crossed 50% in 2013, it continued in 2021, it reached 59% in 2024 and now it says 66% of women in the group of 2026.Educational diversity has also grown. Non-engineering graduates make up 57% of the PGP, 96% of the Post Graduate Program in Liberal Studies and Management (PGP-LSM), and 45% of the Post Graduate Program in Finance (PGP-Fin).The institution also hosted 99 doctoral students, including 27 students in the Doctoral Program in Management and 72 in the Executive Doctoral Program. This year’s intake also includes the first cohort of the Doctoral Program in Management (Teaching Track).The Institute presents a comprehensive learning environmentSpeaking at the launch event, Raghu Polisetty, Senior Managing Director, Accenture, said, “AI can enhance intelligence, but it cannot replace human thought, judgment or intent. The largest representation of women in IIM’s history reflects our longstanding belief that diversity and excellence go hand in hand.”He added that the organization will continue to build classrooms with students from different disciplines and who have experienced different experiences while promoting cooperation and learning in different schools.
