Actor Jaaved Jaaferi, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film ‘Dhamaal 4’, has revealed whether he was ever affected by monotony while playing his character of Manav in the film.
The actor spoke to IANS during the film’s promotions along with director Indra Kumar and actor Arshad Warsi.
While portraying a character for a period of time, the actor gets better control of the character and knows what clicks and what doesn’t with the audience. When asked if being too sure of the character takes the fun out of it, he said, “It’s more fun because you’re enjoying the character. You’re trying to think, staying within the parameters of that character. You’re always thinking, ‘What else can I add?’ without going outside the parameters. The most important thing is that you have to stay within the boundaries of the character.”
He told IANS, “All actors understand the limits of the characters they play. Relax, the writing is so good that it brings out a good performance naturally. When the writing is not good, the actor has two problems.”
He then recalled, “During my father’s time, I have seen people saying, ‘Sir, do something, I only have the hero for 2 hours, do something’. But what can we do if they don’t give us the original material?”.
“Making a new Gen Z joke is not ‘Dhamaal’. If a Gen Z kid comes, I might add that character. Our character can’t become a Gen Z,” he added.
