Although many criticized the film for not being exactly according to the book, the director has defended his creative choice in one of his latest interviews. Christopher Nolan actively defends his choice to use modern English in most of the dialogue for his next big project. While speaking to the Los Angeles Times about the matter, Nolan said that he consciously made the creative choice while making the film and that it was not a mistake. Giving the reasoning for his choice, Nolan shared that he wanted to use language that was not intellectually connected to the story, but that people could connect with emotionally.He further shared, “Maybe I was being naive, I could bite my ass, but I wanted a down-to-earth narrative. It was a no-brainer for me.”This is not the only thing that the director has thought deeply about the film. While speaking to Time magazine earlier this year, the star shared details about how many of the materials, including the bronze daggers, have been made to accurately capture what the weapons would have looked like at the time. He even detailed how the props were made darker to provide more accuracy.He also added a defense to cast rapper Travis Scott in ‘The Odyssey’ as the bard. He shared, “I cast it because I wanted to nod to the idea that this story has been passed down as oral poetry, which is analogous to rap.”
