Chidambaram’s thriller film ‘Balan: The Boy’ continued its steady run at the box office on its first Sunday. The film witnessed a healthy growth on day 3 and registered its best single day collection since its release. According to Sacnilk, the thriller earned Rs 3.00 crore nett on Sunday, registering a 27.7 percent increase over its Day 2 collection of Rs 2.35 crore.

The net collection from India stands at Rs 7.17 crore

‘Balan: The Boy’ has now collected Rs 7.17 crore nett at the Indian box office. The film’s total Indian gross is Rs 8.31 crore after three days in theatres.The thriller opened with Rs 1.82 crore nett on the first Friday. Collections rose to Rs 2.35 crore on Saturday before rising further to Rs 3.00 crore on Sunday.The film registered 28.7% occupancy on Day 1. This improved to 38.3% on Day 2 and further increased to 45.1% on Day 3.

The Malayalam version drives the collections

Out of the net collection of Rs 3.00 crore recorded on Sunday, the Malayalam version made Rs 2.90 crore. The language version also posted an impressive occupancy rate of 52 percent in 1,002 shows.The Tamil version earned Rs 5 lakhs while the Telugu version added Rs 4 lakhs. The Hindi version brought in Rs 1 lakh.Malayalam’s total occupancy stood at 54.05 percent on Day 3. Morning shows recorded 29.25 percent occupancy. Evening shows rose to 60.08 percent. Night shows witnessed the highest participation at 64.42 percent. Night shows also remained steady at 52.75 percent occupancy.On Day 3, Kerala grossed Rs 2.65 crore. Karnataka followed with Rs 35 lakhs. Tamil Nadu contributed 23 lakhs while Andhra Pradesh and Telangana added 10 lakhs.
