go out Banu on memories as “faithful companions”
Opening her tribute with thoughts on the power of memory, Saira wrote: “The most beautiful thing about life is that it never goes away. It lives on in memories. And memories, unlike time, are faithful companions. They return without wanting to, carrying every smile, every look, every word, as if nothing was ever lost. Remembering someone is perhaps the purest proof that they have never forgotten. I often think that Sahib bestowed upon me an immeasurable treasure before he took leave of this earthly world: a treasure of memories so rich that I will spend the rest of my days living among them. This day, July 7, 2021, Dilip Kumar left not only me, but a whole world that loved him. His family, friends, admirers and film brethren were left with a void that words can never fully describe. Yet to me, he was much more than the man the world celebrated. He was the firm anchor of my life, the quiet strength on which I leaned.” “Ours was not just a life lived together, but a full life. Such was the generosity of his spirit and the grace with which he carried all responsibilities, that he allowed me the rare privilege of simply being his companion. The world will forever remember him as one of the greatest artists to ever grace the silver screen. However, those who really knew him will remember a kinder greatness: a philanthropist, a dear friend and, above all, a human being whose compassion was as boundless as his dignity. Looking back, I realize that I wasn’t just witnessing history, I was living it. Without knowing it, I became a humble part of a legacy that generations will continue to celebrate,” he added.
Saira Banu on love that does not “submit to time”
The actress concluded, “Five years have passed since Sahib left my sight, but never my life. Love of such depth does not submit to time, nor company of such grace surrenders to absence. He resides where my memories wander and pass to him every day. If I have been lucky in this life, it is because I have been bestowed with love, honor and immense love. Dilip Kumar. And that is a blessing my soul will be grateful for until we meet again.”
