UPSC Drug Inspector recruitment 2026: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the notification for the recruitment of 186 Drug Controllers in the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The recruitment was announced through Advertisement No.Eligible candidates can apply through the UPSC Online Recruitment Application (ORA) portal till July 17, 2026, at 6.00 pm. This post is for Group ‘A’ posts and candidates can be recruited anywhere in India as per the requirements of the organization.Job details and eligibilityUPSC has announced 186 jobs, including 55 for unreserved category, 41 for EWS, 39 for OBC, 35 for SC and 16 for ST candidates.Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Science, or a degree in Medicine with specialization in Clinical Pharmacology or Microbiology from a recognized university. Upper age limit is 30 years for UR and EWS candidates, 33 years for OBC candidates and 35 years for SC and ST candidates. Age relaxation for PwBD candidates will be given as per government rules.The application process is paymentCandidates must complete One Time Registration (OTR) on the UPSC ORA portal before filling the application form. Applicants are required to upload passport photo, signature, educational certificates, attested photo proof and other relevant documents. Group Certificate and PwBD should also be upgraded wherever appropriate.Application fee is Rs 25 for General, OBC and EWS male candidates. No fee is charged by SC, ST, women and PwBD applicants.Selection and paymentSelection includes short application, Recruitment Test if conducted by UPSC, personal interview, document verification and medical examination.Candidates will be selected under Pay Level-8 of the Seventh Central Pay Commission. The average monthly salary in hand ranges from Rs 70,000 to Rs 85,000, depending on the posting location and eligibility. Benefits include Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance, National Pension System, Hospitals, Leave Travel Concession and other Central Government benefits.The probationary period will be two years, including two weeks of mandatory training. The headquarters will be at CDSCO, New Delhi, where documents can be sent anywhere in India. Drug Inspectors will be responsible for overseeing drug manufacturing units, monitoring the quality of drugs, collecting drug samples, ensuring compliance with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and enforcing criminal laws.
