CBSE news updated Class 12 results of Vedant Srivastava; Physics writes irrevocably after mixing with paper
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) A student of class 12 whose answers were mixed with the questions revealed on what happened this year after the result has also received his result. But the result has brought only a small change.Vedant Srivastava, whose Physics answer book was mistakenly changed with that of another student during the Board results, said that his overall results have increased by just two marks. None of the additions came from the controversial Physics paper that sparked the controversy.“I am relieved that the results have been released,” Vedant said on X Sunday.He said that he requested to review 11 questions in all subjects, but only Mathematics and Computer Science were changed.Regarding the exchange of answers, not even a single mark has increased, the marks that have increased are in mathematics while one mark has increased in computer science,” he said.
An article that raised questions about OSM
Vedant’s case first came to light in May when he claimed that the Physics answers given to him through CBSE results were not his.Instead of receiving a recorded copy of his answers, he said he was shown another student’s script. The allegations quickly gained traction on social media, with several students coming forward with similar complaints about discrepancies in the answer books that were evaluated under CBSE’s new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system.Following this backlash, the CBSE admitted that there had been an inadvertent exchange of answer sheets at the time the results were out. Later the Board gave Vedant its own original Physics answer book.The same update changed his Physics from 65 to 74.However, after reviewing the correct answer, Vedant said it noticed what it believed to be some problems with the analysis and decided to conduct a further investigation.
New questions after the answer book appeared
The issue gained attention after Vedant shared the images of his actual Physics answer paper online.Several social media users reported that the brochure appeared to have the usual red ink instead of the text that many associate with the digital On-Screen Marking method. That led to new questions about how the answer book was chosen.CBSE has not given a separate response to these observations.
The debate over OSM continues
With the review results announced, Vedant’s case has come to an end. The controversy surrounding CBSE’s first year of implementing On-Screen Placement, however, continues.A number of students who later received approved or reviewed textbooks have continued to complain about the review. Among the highlights are answers that students say are left out, answers that they say don’t receive marks despite being tested, and instances where the marks awarded don’t seem to match what’s written on the paper.The On-Screen Marking system was introduced for the first time in the Class 12 Board examination of 2026, instead of the conventional method of marking and digital evaluation of the recorded answer books.The change also saw a sharp rise in post-result applications, with many students applying for verification of marks, copies of answer books and revisions.The CBSE has maintained that the evaluation and re-evaluation of the results is done as per the prescribed procedures.
