On June 25, director Uwe Boll took to his X account (formerly known as Twitter) and shared the full film on the platform. He revealed that the clip will remain live on his account for a full 48 hours, causing quite a stir online. Not only that, but Boll’s project also had the support of Elon Musk, the owner of the platform. Musk also shared the film on his personal account, fully supporting the controversial film.‘Citizen Vigilante’ has a duration of 1 hour and 28 minutes.
‘Citizen Vigilante’ banned in Germany
The film never received an audience rating in Germany, which led to the film being banned for its controversial depiction of violence against immigrants. Addressing the matter in an interview to The Telegraph, the director had raised and shared that they (the official board) had refused to give a rating to the film.He then added: “The rating system refused to give us a rating, so now you can only see it if you bring a Blu-ray from Austria or Switzerland. And I think they did that on purpose. It was a deliberate censorship decision. I hired a lawyer to complain about it, but we lost by a six-two vote because I was told the film was inciting violence against migrants.”Also, speaking about the project, Boll added: “I know there’s a lot of interest and response in America. In Europe at the moment, people shy away from making this kind of tough political film, but I’ve always tried to bring politics into genre films. This isn’t a documentary, it’s a thriller and I hope viewers will respond to it.”

Little by little, he takes matters into his own hands and punishes criminals, murderers, as well as dirty politicians and people who are exploiting his power. This makes him a vigilante, a wanted criminal, as well as a hero to the people.The film marks Armie Hammer’s big return to the big screen after his controversial 2021, after someone alleged he had been abusive. After an investigation, no charges were filed against the actor.
