Farah Khan looked back on one of the most talked about controversies about his brother Sajid Khan Shekhar Sumanexplaining why she instinctively came to his defense.Recalling the public spat between Sajid Khan and the filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker at an awards function, Shekhar asked Farah if Sajid had been right or wrong.

“I have a son I’ve been taking care of since he was five. Sajid was always my responsibility,” she said, explaining that protecting him came naturally to her.Addressing the incident itself, Farah clarified that her relationship with Ashutosh Gowariker has always remained warm.“I’m Ashutosh and we’re very old friends. The only thing I had was that if he felt bad, he could have gone out the back and talked to Sajid. We got a shock because Ashu is genuinely a very, very close friend of ours. And it still is.”
The conversation then turned to the growing culture of celebrity roasting. Farah admitted that she likes humor but believes there are limits.“I like roasting, but it’s not for our country. It’s not part of our culture. Our culture is not about inviting a guest and insulting them.”He added that while he roasts people on his own show, he makes sure it’s done with respect.“I noticed that you roast people with such decency that even the person you are roasting enjoys it, and so does the audience,” Shekhar told him.Farah agreed that humor works best when it stays good-natured rather than hurtful.
