Toyota Ebella electric car deliveries start: range, price, specifications

Toyota India recently launched the new Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella electric SUV in the Indian market. Now, deliveries of the electric SUV have begun. The Ebella EV is based on the Suzuki e-Vitara and shares most of its core components with its Maruti counterpart. The launch marks a major milestone for Toyota as it enters India’s mass-market EV segment with a mid-size electric SUV that will compete with rivals such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara.Toyota has priced the top-spec Ebella E3 at Rs 23.60 lakh (ex-showroom). Under the Battery as a Service (BaaS) plan, its entry price is Rs 15.25 lakh and battery usage charges are Rs 4.99 per km. Ebella is available in three models: E1, E2 and E3. The top-spec E3 is Rs 3.60 lakh more expensive than the corresponding Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara model, which is priced at Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). Toyota has not yet announced prices for the E1 and E2 models.The Urban Cruiser Ebella is available with a choice of two battery packs – a 49kWh or a 61kWh battery pack. The 49kWh battery will be paired with a single electric motor mounted on the front axle, producing 144 horsepower. The larger 61kWh battery is also paired with a single motor, but here it puts out 174hp. Both motors produce the same 189Nm of torque. Speaking of range, the electric car claims a range of 440 kilometers with the 49 kWh battery pack, while the larger 61 kWh version has a range of 543 kilometers on a single charge.In terms of features, the EV comes with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.1-inch infotainment screen powered by wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cloud-based navigation, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting with 12 color options and ventilated front seats. Apart from this, it also comes with features like wireless charging, JBL audio system, automatic climate control, multiple USB ports, and cabin air purifier. In terms of safety, this model comes standard with 7 airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, 360-degree camera, and level 2 ADAS functions such as lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and rear cross-traffic alert.Image source: Capital Toyota/Instagram
