Marwadi University had business, investor and boAt Co-founder Aman Gupta at a campfire chat during the orientation program for his incoming first-year students. The session brought together more than 650 students, who interacted with the business leader in business, innovation, leadership and the reality of construction in India.The discussion focused on Gupta’s experiences in entrepreneurship, including challenges, obstacles and milestones that changed his career. Students also participated in discussions on startups, business strategies, leadership, career decisions and workplace changes created by Gen Z.Aman Gupta shares lessons from his entrepreneurial journeySpeaking to the students, Mr. Gupta encouraged them to focus on what they want instead of external considerations. “Don’t worry about the world. Don’t think about what people think. Do what you think,” he said.Speaking about the youth, he said Gen Z is “the most intelligent generation in the country” and said they represent the future of the country. Reflecting on his career, he noted that his greatest learnings did not come from business school but from the failure of startups, encouraging students to create something.He also spoke about realizing the value of a person, saying that each individual should realize their value instead of letting others define them. Gupta added that they rely more on instinct than on insights gleaned from data. In the end, he said, “When others grow up, I become braver.”View on boats and public marketsDiscussing the boat, Gupta said taking a company public brings accountability to shareholders and the public at large. He also said he does not believe he is ready to lead a public company at this time, leaving open the possibility for the future.The university provides medical servicesDuring the meeting, Marwadi University Chancellor Dhruv Marwadi explained the institution’s activities in doing business. He said each startup idea of the students is funded with Rs 2.5 lakh through the University’s Center for Innovation, Incubation & Research.Marwadi said the university encourages interdisciplinary collaboration by bringing together students from engineering, nursing, management, computer science and law to form startup teams. He said the organization aims to provide learning experiences beyond the classroom by connecting students with industry leaders. The event concluded with an extended question and answer session on startup funding, brand building, innovation, leadership and brand scaling for Indian consumers.
