Actor Yash has praised hisRamayanaco-protagonist Ranbir Kapoorsaying that audiences will witness “a beautiful Rama” when the much-awaited epic hits theaters this Diwali.Speaking at the ‘Ramayana’ table at the San Diego Comic-Con in the US on Thursday, the actor, who essays Ravana in Nitesh TiwariThe adaptation of the Indian epic, he praised his co-star’s dedication to portraying the character with reverence and devotion.
Yash on Ranbir Kapoor’s casting as Lord Rama
Reflecting on Ranbir’s approach to playing Lord Rama, Yash said, “No one in this world can come and say, ‘I have the virtue to play Lord Rama’. The fact that he (Ranbir) has said, ‘I can’t do it’, says it all.”Yash went on to praise Ranbir’s commitment to the role: “He’s a fabulous actor. It’s not easy to play Lord Rama, and the way he’s really worked, a lot of respect for him. He’s a fantastic actor. He’s worked really hard, and when you watch Ramayana, you’ll see a beautiful Rama, with great intention and great sacrifice.”

Yash playing Ravana
Before taking over the big stage, Yash, in a conversation with Rama’s Screen, talked about the challenge of portraying Ravana, one of the most iconic and complex antagonists in Indian mythology. He said: “Well, it was a pleasure. The challenge is because it’s a story that everyone knows, and it’s a story that’s been told in so many ways. So many people have acted in small plays from a small town to television to movies in every regional language. People have been playing this character. To play him in a unique way and still make him feel authentic and in his own way was very unique and authentic.”Hinting at what the audience can expect, Yash teased his version of Ravana, saying, “I think I have tried something that could be very exciting for people.”
‘Ramayana’ cast and release date
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, ‘Ramayana’ stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The film will be released in two parts, with the first installment hitting theaters on Diwali 2026, followed by the second part in 2027.
