Singer-composer Palaash Muchhal has been in legal trouble after his wedding Smriti Mandhana was annulled. An FIR was filed by actor producer Vidnyan Mane, who made several allegations against him and said that Palash cheated him out of 40 lakhs. According to the latest update on the legal tussle, a Sangli sessions court rejected his anticipatory bail plea in a case registered against him under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. His legal team has confirmed that the decision will be challenged in a higher court.According to accessed court documents, the Sangli sessions court dismissed Muchhal’s anticipatory bail plea on Friday, July 10. Confirming the development, Muchhal’s lawyer Advocate Abhijit Desai told HT City, “Yes, the news is true and we plan to challenge the order.”Earlier this year, Mane told the same portal that Muchhal had allegedly cheated him of over Rs 40 lakh in connection with an investment in an unreleased film. He had also accused the singer of cheating on his former fiancee, Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana.In response to these allegations at the time, Muchhal announced that he had taken legal action against Mane. In a post on social media, he wrote, “My lawyer Shreyansh Mithare has sent a defamation legal notice of Rs 10 crore to Sangli-based Vidnyan Mane for his false, outrageous and highly defamatory allegations made with deliberate intent to malign my reputation and character.”Mane, who lives in Sangli and is a childhood friend of Smriti Mandhana, was closely related to the former couple. Muchhal and Mandhana were engaged and expected to marry in Sangli in November 2025, but the wedding was eventually called off. The two later confirmed their separation via social media.According to Mane’s complaint, the latest incident occurred on November 22 at a toll plaza on the Sangli-Ashta highway. He alleged that during a confrontation, Muchhal made caste-based derogatory remarks against him.Following the complaint, the police registered an FIR under Section 3(1) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, along with Sections 351(2) and 352.According to the report, the dispute is related to an alleged financial transaction. Police said Muchhal had taken Rs 25 lakh from Mane for a film production company. When Mane repeatedly requested the money back, it allegedly led to an argument between the two, which culminated in the incident that gave rise to the present case.
