Ahead of UPTET 2026, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the UPESSC to hold a special Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for in-service teachers, saying they should get enough opportunities to prove their eligibility. The Uttar Pradesh government has organized the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for teachers in service, with the Chief Minister. Yogi Adityanath directing the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) to create more vacancies for serving teachers to meet the eligibility requirements.These instructions were given in a high-level meeting on Tuesday to review the preparations for the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026. The exam will be held on July 2, 3 and 4. Admit cards have already been released.

Separate TET for serving teachers

During the meeting, the Chief Minister said that serving teachers should not lose their opportunity because of the limited opportunity to appear for the Eligibility Test for Teachers.He directed the board to conduct a special TET for in-service teachers so that they get enough opportunities to prove their eligibility. According to the chief minister, teachers should not face any difficulties as they have less chance to appear for the exam.

About 20 lakh candidates took UPTET

The government expects 19,94,661 candidates to appear in UPTET 2026. Out of all, 17,67,180 are from Uttar Pradesh, while 2,27,481 are from other states.The largest number of applicants registered in Varanasi, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Kanpur Nagar, Meerut, Mau, Moradabad, Agra and Jaunpur.

CM emphasizes transparency and openness to candidates

Reviewing the arrangements, Adityanath asked the officials to ensure that the examinations are conducted in a fair, transparent and credible manner.He said that no one should face problems due to transportation, accommodation, security, or lack of basic necessities. Government officials have been advised to make proper arrangements at train stations, bus stops, and other major travel destinations, especially for those wishing to travel to other states and countries.

Centers asked to provide the essentials

The Chief Minister ordered all test centers to ensure the availability of drinking water, clean toilets, shaded waiting areas, uninterrupted electricity, fire safety measures and emergency medical care.District officials have also been asked to keep the health and disaster teams on alert due to the ongoing weather.

Magistrates have been told to hold a rehearsal

Adityanath directed the district magistrates to review the exam arrangements a day before the exam. He also ordered that only officials with clean records should be given the job of examination.The Chief Minister also asked the officials to keep an eye on the rumors and lies about the examination on the media to avoid confusion among the aspirants.
