Popular rapper TI, who has been rapping and making music since he was barely 8 years old, announces his retirement. Following the release of his 12th and final album ‘Kill the King’ on June 26, the rapper confirmed in a recent interview that he is stepping away from music altogether.

During one of his latest interviews, the rapper admitted that he has been looking to take a step back from music for some time. Not only that, but while talking to PEOPLE about his decision, the rapper shared that he’s been living this way for a while now and just loves being home.Later, he added, “I got used to being home and being around, and I didn’t want to do as much, for lack of better words, work.” While talking about his latest album, TI shared that he owes a lot to his fans and the world who have been the reason for his fame and success. He added: “I don’t think it can just disappear and nobody knows why I’ve ever put anything on. [again]. So I think having a project and saying, ‘Hey man, that’s it. Thanks for all the love and support.” I’ll catch you all on the other side.”
TI Reveals The Real Reason For His Latest Album’s Title ‘Kill The King’
The rapper also explained why he titled his latest album ‘Kill the King’, claiming it came from a line fellow rapper Big Boi once told him. He shared during the interview that when he first started in the music industry, he had talked to a lot of established rappers. Although many of them had given him all kinds of advice, it was Big Boi’s words that stuck with him all these years.He added, “Big Boi said, ‘just understand you’re going to put a target on your back.’ You’ll put a target on your back and no one will look to do you any favors.” He said: ‘Chess is a game of life. The game of chess is to kill the king.’ And at that moment, I knew that would be the title of my last album.”She further commented that she feels she has gotten everything she felt she could get out of her career and is now looking forward to supporting her children, Damani and King. “I still enjoy recording and performing, but I think maybe because my kids and stuff are getting really big and getting into the business and I’m like, man, I’ve gotten everything I prayed for, man, from the game,” he added.TI has been making music since he was 8 years old and started selling his own mixtapes at 15. In 2001, after officially signing to a music label, he released his debut album, ‘I’m Serious’.
