Businessman and former senior adviser to the President of the USA Elon Musk has been quite vocal about his opinion of Christopher Nolan’s latest film, ‘The Odyssey’. From criticizing casting choices to calling out the director for his “integrity,” Musk hasn’t skipped a beat to share his honest opinions about the film with the audience. Here’s a compilation of most of the comments he’s made over the past few months, since Nolan announced his film.
Elon Musk comments on Lupita Nyong’o
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Musk had commented on his displeasure with Nolan’s casting choices, specifically Lupita Nyong’o and Elliot Page. Nyong’o, who plays the role of Helen of Troy, the most beautiful woman in Greek mythology and the reason why the Trojan War started, along with her identical sister, Clytemnestra. While discussing her casting, conservative commentator Matt Walsh criticized Nolan for casting Lupita in the role, writing in a post: “No one on the planet really thinks Lupita Nyong’o is ‘the most beautiful woman in the world.’But Christopher Nolan knows he’d be called a racist if he gave the role of “most beautiful woman” to a white woman. Nolan is technically talented but a coward.” Responding to this, Musk had commented, “True” on the post.

Earlier this year, the businessman had also re-shared a couple of posts that had called out the director for the casting of Elliot Page in the film. Many of the comments had been transphobic in nature and directly commented on Page’s gender. He had also replied to one such post on his account and had written: “Chris Nolan has lost his integrity.” Elliot Page was previously rumored to be Achilles, one of Odysseus’ fallen companions whom he encounters in Hell. However, it was later confirmed that Page played the role of Sinon, who was one of the warriors in her fleet, and had been tricked into joining the war by one of Penelope’s suitors. In Homer’s poems, while he was represented as the cousin of Odysseus, in the film he was presented as the son of a peasant.
Elon Musk on AI making ‘The Odyssey’ historically accurate
In an online post recently, Musk discussed how his social media platform’s AI system will create a “historically accurate” version of “The Odyssey,” unlike Nolan’s version. His post read, “Before this year is out, Grok Imagine will make a feature-length film of The Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to Homer’s art.” Along with this, he also shared a couple of posts from a user X who shared a three-minute long clip that they claimed was made using AI. The video showed a glimpse of the conversation between Odysseus and the nymph Calypso.
Elon Musk is willing to finance Mel Gibson for another version of ‘The Odyssey’
A few days ago, a social media user had asked Elon Musk to fund filmmaker and actor Mel Gibson and give him $100 million. The person had commented that Musk should fund his project and make another version of ‘The Odyssey’ that is historically accurate, including the ships, the armor, along with the weapons. In his response, the man had limited himself to answering with two words and had commented: “I’m down.”
Elon Musk created an AI version of “The Iliad”
Homer’s epic is divided into two poems: ‘The Iliad’, which narrates the war in detail, and ‘Odyssey’, which records the king’s perilous journey home. A month ago, amidst all the criticism he had shared about Nolan before the release of ‘The Odyssey’, he had used his own AI video tool to create a reimagined clip of ‘The Iliad’. He had shared the post along with the caption, “Iliad (Troy) trailer made by Grok Imagine 1.5, just released.“ Social media account Heavy Pulp had created the video and responded to Musk’s post commenting: “Had a lot of fun putting this together for everyone!”, to which Musk responded by commenting: “Want to make a full movie?”
