Speaking with PEOPLE at the opening night of their off-Broadway musical on July 10, Nettles shared her perspective on being a part of the couple’s momentous occasion. “To be a part of even a small part of their story for me was super special because obviously these are two people who are at the absolute top of their industry, at the top of their game, at the top of their craft, at the top of their art,” he said. “It’s such an important time in their lives. Being able to witness that special moment is beautiful.”

I guess people had; there were leaks here and there where people were guessing, but nobody really knew where we were going until much closer to the moment,” he explained.Eventually, approximately 1,000 guests gathered at the iconic New York City pavilion to support the couple. The celebration featured Swift and Kelce reading their vows from golden books, each devoting about 20 minutes to the exchange. A comedian officiated the ceremony, while Swift’s brother Austin was her best man and Kelce’s brother Jason acted as her best man.
