Veteran Malayalam actor Rajasekharanpopularly known as SI Rajasekharan for his memorable portrayals of police officers on screen, passed away on Sunday at his residence in Chingavanam in Kerala’s Kottayam district. The cause of his death has not been disclosed.A familiar face in Malayalam cinema and television, Rajasekharan was best known for playing the roles of sub-inspectors and police officers in numerous films, earning him the affectionate nickname ‘SI Rajasekharan’ among audiences and colleagues alike.
He appeared in more than 100 films
Rajasekharan reportedly appeared in more than 100 Malayalam films during his career. His notable credits include Sandarbham, Rajavinte Makan, Vazhiyorakazchakal, Nair Saab, Mudra, Sethurama Iyer CBI, No. 20 Madras Mail, Thappana, Parassala Pachan Payyannur Paramu and Oru Yathra Second Class.Apart from films, she also had an active presence on Malayalam television, appearing in several popular serials over the years.

Rajasekharan was a regular presence in films directed by veteran filmmaker Joshiy, with many of his police roles becoming memorable among Malayalam film audiences.Mammootty, who shared screen space with Rajasekharan in several films, paid his last tribute to the late actor through a heartfelt post on Facebook.Rajasekharan’s death marks the end of a career that spanned decades, during which he carved a niche with impactful supporting performances, especially in uniformed roles that became his on-screen signature.
