With all eyes on his character, Qureshi has shared that he hopes the film inspires many more like it. While chatting with PTI to promote the film, the actress took a deep dive into what working on this concept was like for her.He began by talking about the character, sharing that “The fact that he’s normal-looking and yet such a lethal killer is what makes it such an interesting story… We just wanted to make a very relatable character. The baby is someone you just meet in a place in Mumbai and don’t bat an eye. I think there could be a lot more changes when it comes to writing better parts. It’s definitely a step in the right direction.”She also spoke about the existing roles women tend to play on action and thriller sets, sharing how she feels stars are often hypersexualized in these femme fatale characters. She added: “That women have to be in this tight, hypersexualized image so they can be killers. I think it comes from the patriarchy.”Also, while talking about the film, she commented that, “I think when you think about people, especially women with disabilities, you almost think of it as a weakness; you almost think of them as a weakness. Here you had a female hitman, who is lethal and is a weapon of mass destruction. Yet she has a disability that’s not really her strength; it’s her asset.”

How Huma Qureshi landed the script for ‘Baby Do Die Do’

The actress also gave an insight into how she landed the role and what made her say yes to the script in the first place. She shared that she came across the script almost 4 years ago, and from the first moment she was determined to star in it. Giving more context, he mentioned that “I decided I wanted to act in it. When I couldn’t find a suitable producer, we decided to produce it under my production company called Saleem Siblings, and I love the fact that it’s meaty, it’s cool, it’s got a wife beater, it’s deaf and dumb, and it has a gun.

‘Baby Do Die Do’ has been directed by Nachiket Samant and was recently released on July 3rd. Apart from Huma Qureshi playing the lead role of the killer Baby Karmarkar, the film also features names like Sikandar Kher as Zafar, Chunky Panday as PM Jain, Seema Pahwa as Anjum Khan and Rachit Singh as Siddhu.The actress has spoken about the film and stated that it is “curious, it is a thriller, it is also a comedy and a musical as it has an original composition and a very unique style”. He also praised Samant for his work and originality in the script, and shared that it translates very well on screen.

How did Huma Qureshi prepare for the role

Since the lead role is to portray someone who is deaf and mute, Qureshi had to do a lot of preparation for the film. She revealed that she was properly trained in sign language and even visited schools for children with special needs.“I had a coach who made me learn sign language. I also went to a school for children with special needs and… who weren’t able to speak or listen… I learned a lot just by interacting with those kids,” he said.On the work front, Qureshi will be seen in ‘Toxic’ alongside Yash. The film has been directed by Geetu Mohandas and is slated to release on August 26. The film was originally slated to release on March 19, which was later pushed back to June 4.
