Speaking at ‘The Odyssey’ event in Mumbai on Saturday, July 11, Damon revealed that Kapur had long been a director he admired and wanted to work with.

When asked to name an Indian filmmaker he would like to work with, Matt pointed to Shekhar Kapur. “The filmmaker who started out everyone wanted to collaborate with was Shekhar Kapur,” he said, adding that he was “very upset” when he couldn’t be part of “The Four Feathers.” He noted that his prior commitment to the Jason Bourne franchise was likely what prevented him from taking on the role. “I think I signed up for the Jason Bourne movie,” he said.

Despite losing that project, Damon made it clear that his desire to collaborate with Kapur hasn’t faded. “I guess it’s always been on my bucket list, so I’d like to do it again. It’s like a 20-year debt that I’ve been carrying around in my body. That’s it,” he added.
