Samay Raina: ‘No better than Rs 370 biryani’: Netizens slammed Samay Raina for ‘kandha dega tabhi woh…’ comment: ‘Vasoolunga toh sahi’ | Hindi Movie News

Comedian Samay Raina is back with the second season of ‘India’s Got Latent’, with the first episode starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari as celebrity guests. While the show’s return has generated excitement, an old clip from one of its 2024 episodes has resurfaced online, sparking fresh criticism. The viral video has reignited conversations about misogyny, consent and the kind of humor that is becoming normalized, especially after the recent Rs 370 biryani controversy that dominated social media earlier this month. In the resurfaced clip, a woman attending the show with her boyfriend suddenly gets up and walks away halfway through. Samay, curious, asks him what happened. The man replies that he had to run home because his father had suffered a mild heart attack. Surprised by the boyfriend’s calm reaction, Samay wonders why he didn’t accompany him to check the situation. He then jokes, “Abhi jaake rota na jaake, bhai kandha dega tabhi woh head degi (Go cry for her. Give her your shoulder, and she’ll give you her head),” he drew laughter from the audience. The clip has gone viral, with several social media users criticizing the comment. An X user wrote, “Kandha dega tabhi toh head degi” – Samay Raina to a guy in the audience when his girlfriend leaves crying while her father has a small heart attack. It is not better than “370 rupai diye hain biryani ke liye vasoolunga toh sahi” Yes, comedy is not the biggest problem in our country, but dressing room language so casual has become mainstream and also contributes to crimes and violence against women. Men get away with this kind of language/offense because other men join in and applaud when women are talked about like that. So don’t @me with your gyaan.”Another user commented: “Entitlement is not measured by what you have given… Yes it’s a dinner bill or a shoulder to cry on, nothing beats someone’s body. Nowadays people use comedy as a laundry for rotten ideas… Sigh.”A third wrote: “Samay’s lovers are misogynists, it doesn’t matter if they’re male or female anymore, they’re all misogynists, I hope they face the misogyny they’re making fun of, I don’t feel sorry for you.”Another post said: “I feel pathetic for standing up for this guy when all the drama happened. it doesn’t deserve a platform at all, let alone a platform where you have to pay to watch this shit. he could have easily called out his behavior, but he turned it into a joke for a few laughs.”For those who don’t know, the ₹370 biryani controversy erupted after a clip from comedian Pranit More’s show went viral. During the show, 23-year-old Himanshu Jangra claimed that since he had spent ₹370 on chicken biryani during a date, he deserved a “return” on that investment. The comment received widespread backlash, following which Himanshu apologized and deactivated his social media accounts.Pranit More also issued a public apology, clarifying that the audience member’s statement did not represent his personal views. He said, “comments made by members of the public do not reflect my views.”
