Ryan Gosling looks set to join the superhero realm! According to recent reports, the actor has confirmed that he is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Ghost Rider. Ryan Gosling is joining the MCU as Ghost Rider
Ghost Rider, or Johnny Blaze, is one of Marvel’s most coveted roles. While the production house was presenting at the Hall H event at San Diego Comic-Con, they confirmed that Ryan Gosling is joining the MCU roster. PEOPLE reported that the 45-year-old Oscar nominee will take on the title to become the next Ghost Rider. Kevin Feige, one of the studio’s executives, confirmed the news on stage, while Gosling, who was also present during the event, shared how excited he was about the opportunity.“As you know, this is a character I’ve wanted to play for a long time,” he stated. ‘Deadpool’ and ‘Wolverine’ filmmaker Shawn Levy, who will direct a new stand-alone Marvel film featuring Gosling’s Ghost Rider, was also at the event. Speaking about the upcoming project, Levy shared, “I’m getting the best flashback vibes here, because I was here two years ago when we showed Deadpool & Wolverine. I’ll never forget that night, because I was introduced to the big fans. Gosling is the absolute s—. I say that with tremendous respect. We spent a lot of time on Starf’s character last year, and we started talking about Starf’s character as Ryan last year. I was like, ‘Ger, let’s ride.'” see you in 2028!”Earlier this year in March, after rumors of the role had started to spread online, Gosling appeared on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast and shared at the time that some discussions were taking place. Gosling will take over from Nicholas Cage, who first appeared as biker Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider, in the 2007 film of the same name. He appeared in the film alongside Gosling’s longtime partner Eva Mendes, with whom he shares two daughters. The first film shows Blaze’s dealings with the devil and how he was transformed into the fiery vigilante who sends rotten souls to hell.Cage reprized his role again in 2011 for the sequel film titled “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance”.
