Still, it continued to dominate the box office, crossing the Rs 80 crore gross mark in India.According to early estimates on sacnilk, ‘The Odyssey’ earned around Rs 8.35 crore nett on Day 4 from 9,102 shows, taking its total India nett collection to Rs 69.65 crore. The film’s Indian gross now stands at around Rs 83.14 crore.
‘The Odyssey’ first collections on Monday
After a stellar opening weekend, the film registered a 61.9 percent drop in collections on Monday compared to its Rs 21.90 crore nett on Sunday. The film had opened on Friday with a collection of Rs 17.40 crore nett before witnessing strong growth over the weekend with Rs 22 crore nett on Saturday and Rs 21.90 crore nett on Sunday, leading to an impressive first weekend total that crossed Rs 50 crore.
The English version of ‘The Odyssey’ remains the biggest attraction
The original English version of the film has become the main contributor to its success in India. Out of the Rs 83.14 crore gross earned so far, the English version has brought in approximately Rs 66.18 crore, which is almost 80 percent of the total collections. The remaining Rs 16.96 crore gross came from the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions.
‘The Odyssey’ maintains control amid national competition
Despite the midweek decline, the Christopher Nolan directorial continued to lead the Indian box office on Monday, beating the competition. The film competes with horror title ‘Evil Dead Burn’ which has so far collected Rs 26.98 crore nett and Rs 31.61 crore gross in India. It is also facing competition in the Hindi market from ‘Dhamaal 4’, which has so far earned around Rs 152.20 crore gross and a total India net collection of Rs 127.75 crore so far.
Christopher Nolan’s biggest opening in India
Odyssey has already rewritten Christopher Nolan’s record books in India. The film delivered the director’s biggest opening day in the country, surpassing the opening day collections of ‘Oppenheimer’, ‘Tenet’, ‘Interstellar’ and ‘Dunkirk’.Globally, the adaptation of Homer’s epic has also had a very successful start, with one of the strongest openings of Nolan’s career, surpassing his 2012 hit ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.
